TRAINING IN READING AND ANALYSING ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS - ON YOUR DIAGRAMS

An industrial electrician must be able to :

Read and interpret the various electrical diagrams, drawings and electrical code requirements to determine the location of industrial electrical equipment.Detect a malfunction quickly in order to draw up a diagnosis.Use measuring equipment and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) software.Implement the various rule and test procedures.Know and comply with the various standards and regulations relating to industrial electricity.Working as part of a team.Industrial electricians must possess qualities such as rigour, precision and skill, which will be of constant use in this profession, where ingenuity in anticipating and repairing malfunctions is essential. His or her attention to new technologies will enable him or her to adapt constantly to the various technological advances in the industrial sector. Good interpersonal skills are advisable, where sharing information is important for the smooth running of the plant.

Industrial electricians will be required to :
Install, check, replace and repair electrical cables, sockets, switch boxes, conduits, fibre optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting equipment and other components.Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors.Locate, maintain and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.Carry out preventive maintenance programmes and keep maintenance records.Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instruments and related devices.
